What have I been reading lately, you’d didn’t ask…

Jon Ronson’s new book The Castle was released while I was at Edinburgh Fringe Festival and I wanted to buy a copy to read in any quiet moments between shows or more likely on the train home. Could I find a copy in any Edinburgh book shop? No! On the train home I decided to get the audio book, something I had resisted because I’ve got all of Jon’s previous books and wanted this one to join the collection. However I’m very glad I did get the audio version because hearing Jon was a treat and there are some extra bits not featured in the paper version. Plus I listened to the last chapter while doing a park run in heavy rain, which would have been much more difficult with a physical book.

A lot to think about in The Castle and it’s lived with me for a couple of weeks since finishing it. Really fascinating reflections on AI, work ethics, social media influencing and a lost generation (or two) of men. Pretty sure I will listen again, or maybe read with my eyes the second time.
